A Few Things I Love About Life!

A few years ago a friend of mine had a 35th birthday and asked us all to bring a list of the 35 things we love about life with to the birthday dinner and then had us all share ours with with her. I started off by thinking there were not 35 things I could think of and that this would be a short list, but it’s funny how many little things make life worth living. So besides my hope in Jesus which tops everything and is a given, these are my 35 Things I love about life! (in no particular order)

1. Coffee / Wine with friends
2. Warm sand on my feet and the sun on my skin in summer
3. Hot Chocolate with marshmallows
4. Family that reminds you of your most embarrasing moments and then laughs WITH you
5. Old friends that know every detail of your life and still hang around
6. New friends that think you’re interesting enough to get to know
7. Hugs
8. Mashed potato and butternut with lots of butter and salt!
9. The feeling of anticipation when waiting for something exciting to happen
10. Riley’s good morning meows and kitty paw pats to wake me up
11. The sunny spot on the couch
12. Walks on the beach
13. Dancing even when there’s no music
14. Chocolate! In any form!
15. Gnush (traditional Xhosa food made with maize and beans)
16. Sitting in front of a real fireplace in winter
17. Watching the sky for falling stars
18. Love Coffee’s Flat Whites in the morning before work
19. A good book that makes me laugh out loud
20. Cotton Sheets
21. Spontaneous get togethers
22. Listening to music with my family (our family sing-a-longs are legendary!)
23. Old black & white photos
24. The perfect summer day: Blue skies, fresh cut grass, nights so still you can hear the frogs & crickets
25. Cellphone upgrades
26. bargain hunting in old antique stores and finding old antique jewellery
27. long hot bubble baths
28. Holidays in Bathurst
29. Watching old 80’s John Hughes movies (Pretty In Pink / Breakfast Club / Ferris Bueller!)
30. The smell of coffee
31. Kicking off my shoes when I get home
32. Daydreaming when I should be working…shhhhhh! (ok I should probably delete that one!)
33. Phonecalls just to say hi
34. Jade Garden Sweet ‘n Sour Pork with Noodles and Chocolate Double thick Friesland Milkshakes while sitting watching the waves at Nahoon Corner
35. Feeling hopeful and expectant even when things don’t look good

Make yours!
