Don’t Call Me A Christian
I don’t quite know how to express how I’m feeling at the moment, having watched Donald lay his hand on the Bible and reading about how he attended a prayer service before the inauguration. Over the years I’ve been quite vocal on one of my pet hates being people who judge others without knowing their heart, so I’m a bit conflicted by my feelings on this issue.
Over the last year I’ve watched and listened to media and friends on social media talking about the American Election and how one candidate is better than another. It culminated this Friday in The Donald being sworn in as the 45th US President.
I’m not American, this shouldn’t be about me. However, people around the world have extreme feeling on the matter of Donald Trump as the U.S President. The thing that is bothering me though is how Christians are saying he is a Christian and going to bring back prayer to schools and stop abortions and make America a Christian country again by building a wall to keep out people not like us…ie. not Christian, not white, not American.
How does this not sound like Adolf Hitler, KKK, White Supremacy, Apartheid???
There is another term…Christian Terrorism.
When Obama was sworn in the American Christian community labeled him the Anti-Christ…These same Christians have elected Donald Trump as their next President.
As a Christian, this terrifies me. I don’t want to be known as Christian who stands by and condones this. Don’t lump me in with this mindset. Just because I follow Christ and believe in Him as my Lord and Saviour does not mean that I agree with your politics. If the term Christian offends you, then please don’t call me a Christian.
Christians who use the Bible to persecute gays, Muslims, Transgenders, other races, alcoholics, smokers, tattooed people, people with purple hair and multiple piercings offend me. This is not just an American issue, but a Christian issue where we are too busy judging others and not loving them. Your Legalism is showing.
