I you know me well you will know that I’m a grand master level procrastinator. The definition of Procrastinate means to delay or put off something that should be done until the opportunity is lost. I tend however to procrastinate when it’s something I don’t like doing or something I know I can’t do well. I procrastinate because I can’t do it perfectly and then get overwhelmed the larger the problem becomes…I try and overcome this by planning my day to do at least one thing on my list of things to do, but you know how it is…meetings, customer complaints, fires that need putting out, last-minute trips to Johannesburg. These all conspire against my to-do list and the list grows longer and longer.
I have an audit it 4 weeks and my list now looks insurmountable. I realised that there are certain things that continuously distract me from said list and I’m writing them down so that I can recognise them and try to stop myself from doing them and focus on my to-do list! I don’t know if there’s a perfect bucket list. I have some things on mine and some I’ve already done but in order to not forget the dreams or lose track of the goals and accomplishments I thought I’d pen my list. Would be wonderful to use an old fountain pen and a perfect piece of paper for this list, but a keyboard and blog will have to do. Read the rest of this entry
“You will not ‘get over’ the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same, nor would you want to.” Elisabeth Kübler-Ross & David Kessler
It seems so simple…
Denial; Anger; Bargaining; Depression; Acceptance. Five little words that are supposed to sum up the experience of grief. Read the rest of this entry
I’m a Christian. I have been for many years…around 30 to be more precise. Most of my journey as a Christian has been hopeful, trusting, questioning, solid, rooted in an unshakeable belief that no matter what, God will always provide, always do what’s best for me and no matter the crisis, circumstances or relationship, God will make it all work out for my good…
Naïve maybe. Or just confident in my God and childlike in my faith. Issues that others wrestled with around doctrine and values were simple for me. My relationship with God was and is based in Love and acceptance. My favourite verse is and always will be 1 Corinthians 13 vs 13
Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love
Christianity to me is simple…Love God, Love each other (fellow Christians), Love your neighbours, Love your enemies, Love yourself as God has loved you.
Religion however is complex and twisted and not always believable (that’s a story for another post), but Love!…I can believe in Love. A love that sacrificed for me. A love that redeems my dark places. Read the rest of this entry
It’s true, I’m a technology junkie. I’m not that clued up, I don’t know all the gadgety speak and if you’re looking for a professional opinion you won’t find it here…I’m purely a girl who likes bright shiny new things and has an opinion. If you want all the specs and gadget speak go to GSM Arena.
I’m patiently waiting for the news tonight on the launch of the new Apple iPhone…rumoured to be called the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus…why? Well usually it wouldn’t interest me all that much as I have a phone (iPhone 5s) and a tablet (Galaxy Note 8) and I like both of them very much…but I have an upgrade due on the tablet and an announcement of a new iPhone just as I realise this amazing fact is quite exciting. So here are some of the things I’m waiting to find out tonight… Read the rest of this entry
A what??? I hear you asking in disbelief…yes, an extroverted Introvert. It may sound like an oxymoron or just plain moronic especially if you know anything at all about introverts, but let me explain a little…
Below are some common thoughts and explanations on what it feels like to be an introvert…but for an extroverted introvert, not all these are accurate and some need a little explanation so that you don’t start avoiding us completely. Read the rest of this entry
A few years ago a friend of mine had a 35th birthday and asked us all to bring a list of the 35 things we love about life with to the birthday dinner and then had us all share ours with with her. I started off by thinking there were not 35 things I could think of and that this would be a short list, but it’s funny how many little things make life worth living. So besides my hope in Jesus which tops everything and is a given, these are my 35 Things I love about life! (in no particular order) Read the rest of this entry
